Another trip to the ER.

This past Tuesday, Natalie just wasn't acting herself. She was quite sleepy throughout the day. By the late afternoon, she was so tired that she kept falling asleep. She even had a constant fever throughout the day. I felt so bad for her. When Daddy came home from work around 5 or so. Natalie was so tired, she just broke down and cried. So I put her back in her bed. I thought that I would let her sleep for a little bit, then wake her up, give her a bath and then put her back to bed. When I went into to check on her around 7 pm. She was very hot. I picked her up, she immediately started crying, took her temperature and sure enough it was 103!! I was really getting scared! I knew that there was something wrong, just not an Upper Respiratory Infection. So I packed up an overnight bag and headed back to the ER. After arriving in ER, I was holding Natalie. I noticed that there was some green goo on my shirt. I look in her ear, she had some green goo coming out of her left ear. We didn't have to wait too long in the waiting room before getting her back into a room. Her fever was a lower grade fever by the time they had us in a room. She was still pretty sleepy and very limp. I requested that we have X-rays, and a Cat Scan done of her shunt just to be sure that she didn't have anything wrong. After the doctor looked in her ears, she said that she definitely had a double ear infection and that her left ear had perforated. No wonder she has been so sick with a high fever and sleepy the last few days. I couldn't quite understand why, they didn't see or check the ear infection on Saturday when she went in to her Pediatrician's office or even the day before. After the results from the x-rays and Cat Scans, everything looked great with her shunt. Which was a huge relief. After being in the ER for several hours, we were finally able to go home. On my way home I stopped to get her perscription for her ear infections. We arrived home shortly after midnight. We were both so exhausted. I gave her some meds, changed her diaper and put her to bed.

My girls were so good to me that next morning. They both slept in. Eva slept in until 8 am and Natalie slept in until 9:30 am. Daddy ended up taking the day off, in case we had to stay overnight at the hospital the night before, but thankfully we didn't have too. It was so nice to have him home with us that day.

By Friday, Natalie was feeling and acting a lot better. She started eating food again. Poor girl has lost 2 lbs this past month just from being sick. She is such a trooper. I am so grateful that she is so patient about being sick all the time. This time around, she didn't cry much even though her little ears were hurting, she was quite the Cuddle bug too!
