On June 26th, we followed my parents to Camp Mojo to drop my sister Trina, and brother Marcus off for camp. We headed off to Minnesota for a small vacation. Erich was able to get us to St. Paul MN. We stayed the night at Super 8. (I had made a reservation there the week before.) The hotel even had good ratings......but we didn't think so. On Thursday we went by the St. Paul temple. It was so nice to get out and walk around with the girls. They sure enjoyed not being in the car. Then we headed off to Bloomington. We spent the entire day at the Mall of America. What a fun place! We had a BLAST! The girls loved meeting Dora and Boots! Natalie especially loved getting her picture taking with Hi Kao Lan. We bought some tickets for the some of the rides. They loved them! The REALLY liked Swipers ride that spun in circles. We didn't get to finish walking around the entire mall but from what we did see. We sure had a great time. We decided that one day was plenty, so we started to head back towards Des Moines. Hubby ended up driving for a couple of hours. We stopped at a nice town. We stayed at the Holiday Inn. It was sooooo NICE! They had an indoor waterpark. Erich, my dad, the girls and I had a great time playing in the water. Erich and I took the girls down the big water slide. I had Natalie and Erich had Eva. We went first, what fun. Natalie loved it! We stayed in the water to watch Daddy come down the slide with Eva. There inner tube came down but it was empty. As we seen daddy, we didn't see Eva. My heart dropped. Daddy had Eva in his arms. She wasn't even scared. The inner tube flipped them out and he immediately plugged her nose and held onto her tight. I was so worried about her. She didn't seem to be too bothered by all the water or even being flipped out of the inner tube. We went back to play for a little longer then we headed back to our room. The girls were exhausted! Natalie slept with us and Eva got her own baby bed that the hotel provided. She sure liked having her own bed.
Friday morning we headed to Pella, Iowa. We stopped in Ames to walk around the shops. What fun! We grabbed some lunch at Subway. Then we went on our way. On our way to Pella. We drove through a really bad rain storm. It was crazy! Thank goodness...Daddy is a good driver and got us through the storm. We arrived in Pella around 6 or so that evening. We were able to get an awesome deal at the Royal Amsterdam hotel. BEAUTIFUL! The whole town is beautiful. It is all decorated like Holland. Windmills were everywhere. After checking into our hotel, we walked around the town for a little bit. We got rained on, so we headed back to our room. The girls enjoyed taking a bath in the huge tub. The queen size beds were sooooooooo comfty! Hubby and I even got the bed to ourselves. Eva slept with my parents and Natalie wanted to sleep in the pack n play. It was nice to snuggle with Erich that night.
Saturday morning, we went and had a wonderful breakfast. Homemade biscuits and gravy, danishes, and fruit. It was delicious! We checked out of the hotel and spent a few hours walking around the town. The cute little shops were fun! We even stopped and bought some bake good from the bakery. YUMMMMY! We took several pictures and the we headed back to Kansas City. Eva was so tired, she slept 3 hours in the car. Seriously...nothing woke her up. It was nice to be home again. The girls were sure happy to be home. They played for a few hours before it was time for them to get ready for bed.
Erich and I enjoyed the time we spent with my parents. We are so grateful for them and for all that they did to help make this trip possible. Thank you so much Mom and Dad!
