I can't believe that JUNE has come and gone. This month has been soooo busy! Family came into town and the girls got to spent some time with their cousins, Uncle and Aunt. They loved every minute of it! We finished decorating more family grave sites with the girls. We went to several library story times. The girls loved the petting zoo. They fell in love with Snooki the bunny. They also enjoyed learning about horses at the library. We met up with some friends and went to Monkey Mountain park. On June 10th we attended the NICU reunion, what fun it was to see several Doctors and Nurses that took care of our girls while they were there. Both girls enjoyed playing the the baby in the isolette.
Natalie came down with a cough on June 11th. She didn't need any oxygen the first night soon did the next night. She had a fever off and on for the next several days. I took her to the doctor on Friday the 15th. They sent us to get x-rays. The nurse practitioner called me to let me know that her lungs looked just a bad as the ones before (May). She wanted me to get her admitted to Children's Mercy. Daddy was at a range day for training. So as I packed and got our things ready to head to the hospital. I, decided to call the police station to see if there was any way they could get a hold of Erich. Thankfully, they were able to get a hold of him. He called me back to let me know that he was on his way back to the station. I called my mom to meet us, to get Eva. We met at the police station, our awesome home teacher met us there too. Daddy and Dustin were able to give Natalie a blessing. I was so filled with emotion. I just wanted our precious little miracle to be okay. I had done everything possible to keep her healthy over the previous 2 weeks. We were admitted pretty quick and she was still on 3 liters of oxygen. The first 48 hours she pretty much stayed the same. Saturday night into Sunday, her saturation dipped. She had another xray done. Her lungs improved but not as much as they would have liked. She wasn't drinking enough fluids, so they put in an IV and started Ippv breathing treatments, and albuterol treatments. She had a really rough night. She cried alot and didn't get much sleep. She was up to 15 liters of oxygen through a mask. Poor girl. She finally fell asleep around 4. We both slept until 9. She had some blood work done, to see if she had something viral but it was negative. I had mentioned to the doctors that a few days prior to her getting a cough, I caught her drinking the water while taking a shower. She is still needing thickner added to all her drinks. When she drinks too much of a drink that doesn't have thickner, it gets her in lungs, she aspirates, then it causes bacteria in her lungs which causes her to get cough. Sure enough, this is what happened. Throughout the week, she would saturation would be in the upper 90's then dip while she was sleeping. By, Thursday she was back to herself and fever free! She was even moved down to 12 liters then 8. By Thursday night, she was 2 liters while she slept! Friday she was able to move down to .12 liters. and high sating!! WAHOOO! Throughout, her hospital stay she would constantly ask the doctors and nurses what they were doing, why were they doing that, and always so curious to know just about anything and everything. An intern came and did music therapy with her, she LOVED it! Totally melted my heart to see her sing along while playing an instrument. She enjoyed learning new songs and playing the guitar, maracas, drums and bells. She also loved making crafts. Each morning, a child care volunteer brought her a craft to do. She painted a frame, a dog, and colored several pictures. She enjoyed seeing Eva and Daddy each day when they came to visit. She loved spending time with her sister. Friday night she was able to take a shower! She loved it! She was even on room air. She slept sooo good that night. We were grateful to the wonderful team of doctors that she had. They were awesome! They listened to us and our concerns. They did what was best for Natalie. We both appreciated that. We appreciate all the prayers that were being said for our sweet girl, and we are truly blessed with such sweet friends who cooked us several meals, and helped by taking care of Eva so that daddy could work. We were so happy to get home on Saturday!
June 23rd......Can't believe that 3 years ago that day. We brought home our second little miracle Jellybean. Eva Janelle weighing 7lbs 11 ozs. These past three years have sure been fun watching her grow and learn new things. We love her sweet smile, her giggle, those adorable blue eyes that get you every time. Love that she is smart, stubborn, sassy, sweet, and very independent. I love that she loves to help me fold laundry, do the dishes, or clean the bathrooms. I love that she will still cuddle with me. So blessed that is ours!
