What a week this has been for the Mohler Family! This past Monday, I went into work feeling pretty good. My students were patiently waiting at their desks to start the day. At 8:33 am, I started hemmoraging, I freaked out. I immediately went back to my classroom and I called for the prinicipal and had my para go and get who ever she could find to come and help me. Within minutes several people arrived, I was crying as I explained what happened. I was immediately pushed in a wheelchair upstairs to the office. I called my husband and he had just woke up, he was so patient and began to ask questions like, can you feel her kick, how do you feel. I could still feel her kick and move around. We hung up with each other and he began to call someone to bring him to me. (we only have one car) Dave, my principal drove me to St. Luke's hospital in my car, while the school nurse went and picked up Erich and bring him to the hospital. Dave was able to get me to the hospital in 10 minutes! We arrived at the hospital shortly after 9 am. They immediately took me back and did an ultrasound, my placenta had erupted. They called for an immediate c-section. I remember saying several prayers, asking for my baby to okay. Everything happened so fast, I really don't remember much. Our little Natalie was born at 9:41 am on November 17, 2008. She weighs 2lbs, 2 ozs and she is 13.5 inches long. She came 14 weeks early. She is so beautiful! She is doing really well, she is another St. Luke's hospital in the NICU. I got to see her on Thursday after I was released from the hospital, what a wonderful experience it was to touch her for the first time. The first time I put my finger in her hand she grasped it back. She is a fighter, she has tried to pull the ventilator out twice and on the way down to the hospital she pulled the tubes out of her nose, she opened her eyes on day 2. We know that there are going to be ups and downs. We are just so excited that she is here with us. We just cannot wait to bring her home someday! We have a long road but we will get there and I am so Thankful for all the prayers that have been said for our family. I am so Thankful for those that helped to get me to the hospital.
UPDATE!! For the past 4 days she has been breathing on her own 65%. Everyday they have lifted up the ventilator a little more. She has a vein in her heart that has not closed up, for the next 36 hours, she is being medicated. On Monday, they will do another heart scan and if it still hasn't closed up they will do surgery. We are praying that it will close up on its own.

Becky! She's beautiful and looks like she's doing so well! I'm praying that everything progresses perfectly. She's so blessed to have you as a mother :)
Becky! Congratulations on your beautiful baby! Melissa told me the news that she is here! I am so happy to hear that she is doing so well. What a scary thing to have your placenta rupture!
It sounds like Natalie is so strong and doing so well! My friend had her baby at 24 weeks. He was 1 lb and 12 inches long. He had heart surgery and eye surgery. He did not breath on his own for a long time and I think it took him a few weeks to open his eyes. He is perfectly healthy and just a beautiful little boy! He will be 2 yrs old in a month! Modern medicine can do wonders and these little babies are miracles! It sounds like Natalie is in good hands! You will all be in my prayers - health and strenght!
