Today was Natalie's neurology appointment and ultrasound for her Hydrocephaus. Her
ventricles are expanding with all the fluid build-up. The Doctor said to me that she would need to have a shunt put in. The shunt that he will be putting in Natalie will be one that will help drain the excess fluid out, the ventricles will do the rest. Erich and I feel at peace with the decision of Natalie getting a shunt. As I was waiting in the waiting room to see the neurologist, there were several babies, and children waiting too. I noticed this cute little baby with his parents, he was around 12 months old. He had a large head, and his eyes were deep set into his head. It made me sad to think that, that could have been Natalie. My heart broke for that little baby and for any child who has had to suffer. I am so grateful for such a great pediatrician who has measured Natalie's head each month and noticed that her head was getting rather large so quickly over the past few months. Erich and I feel so blessed to have such a miracle in our lives. We love our little Natalie so much! She brings so much joy to us! I love seeing her smile when she first wakes up in the morning, I love making her giggle. Her surgery will be within the next 2 weeks.

I'll keep her in my prayers for the surgery. I'm happy too that you have such support with a great pediatrician. BTW - I LOVE the picture of Natalie in the crib with her stuffed animals and super cute smile :o)
We will be praying that Natalie makes it safetly through surgery and back into the loving arms of her mommy and daddy quickly. She is a beautiful baby and I can totally see in her pictures how loved she is and how she can make you laugh and smile everyday. Keep us updated as you can. I love reading them all.
