Natalie had to be admitted into the hospital last Tuesday February 16th, for the same virus in her lungs that she keeps getting. She really wasn't as sick as she has been but she still needed some oxygen especially while she was sleeping at night. It all started last Sunday when she woke up with a runny nose, and by Tuesday she has having a hard time when breathing. I took her into the ER and her oxygen saturation level was 85. We were immediately admitted. For the next 7 days, she was watched and cared for by several doctors and nurses! And of course, me too! Anyways, she slept alot the first few days but by Saturday she was ready to go home! All she wanted to do was played and crawl around on the floor. I felt so bad for her. The first few nights we were in a tiny room with a bed for Natalie and 2 recliners. Sleeping in a recliner wasn't the most comfortable thing but I was just glad that I got to be with her while she was there. She slept with me in the recliner for the first 4 nights, everytime I would put her back in her bed she would wake up. So I just decided that it was worth it to let her snuggle with me, rather than have her wake up when putting her back in her own bed. Sunday night, we were moved to a different floor, and into a bigger room with a bed for me too! The last few nights, I was able to get her back to sleep in her own bed and I slept in a bed, not the most comfortable but hey it was a bed! She was able to wean off oxygen on Sunday morning, but still needed oxygen while she slept. That night, when she fell asleep, her saturation level went down to 89 which is usually her baseline, but the nurse put her back on
O2. Her doctor, who came in on Monday, has had Natalie a few times, said that if she does good today, then she can go home tomorrow, even if she still needs O2 at night. They will send us home with the equipment. We were released on Tuesday, with O2 equipment. When we got home, she was so happy! She was everywhere! She even took a 2 hour afternoon nap, went back to bed at 7pm and woke up at 9am! I check her O2 levels which was 95 with no O2 and then 97 O2 when she woke up. I am just grateful that we are home! She has been alot of fun! I love being able to stay at home with her.
