Yesterday, I attended Keith's viewing and funeral service. I am so glad that I was able to be there for his sweet mother and his family. I pray that they will find comfort in knowing where he is. He is perfect, no longer in pain. As I was there, I reflected on his life. My first year teaching, he was in my class as a 2nd grader. He is now a 6th grader and 12 years old. What an amazing little guy he was. He never complained about his sickness, or that he couldn't play outside if it were too hot out. He was born without a pulmonary valve. He had gone through 2 heart transplants in his life. The first one just a tiny newborn, and the second one just last November. After several weeks in the Children's Hospital, sick with infections, lung distressed, and a removal of a blood clot that was in his heart. He returned to Heavenly Father on April 6, 2012. What a treasure he was. I will always miss his smile! While at his service, I was able to give his mother a hug and as we cried in each others arms. She let me know that he is no longer in pain and he is happy where he is. My heart felt so much better hearing her say those things. Several of my Blue Ridge teacher friends were there too. I really enjoyed seeing them. We all had such special moments with Keith. He touched each of our hearts for the better.
The service was really special. This was on the back of the program and it truly touched my heart. "I wanted you to know that I am sitting here in Heaven and having a wonderful day. I started thinking about you all and all the things I didn't get a chance to say. I don't want you to worry about me and please don't shed a tear, because I will wait for you in heaven if it takes a hundred years. Everything I had on Earth, I have in Heaven too, my first day here my body became brand new! It is really pretty here and I love my new home, although I know your heart is broken because my body is gone. However my love will always be there. As you do along your way, just take a peek inside your heart and there is where I will stay. Know that I loved my family and all my friends too, my thoughts will be with each of you your whole life through." How sweet.
I love the scripture in 2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought a good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith." Keith definitely fought a good fight and he kept the faith.
Keith Michael Green you will be dearly missed and is loved by so many. Thank you for touching the lives of so many. Love you sweet forever and for always!
