Easter Baby........

Easter Sunday April 4, 2010

Erich didn't sleep well the night before, so he headed home to get some good rest. I was feeling fine. The doctors came in and said that I would more than likely stay at the hospital until Eva was born, due to the last 2 placenta abruptions that I have had. Sunday morning, I had several contractions right in a row, they were able to give me motrin but within hours the contractions would come again. I ate lunch, and ended up falling asleep, woke up at 1:00 pm, to having a contraction that was quite painful. I called the nurse, she came in a gave me a motrin, within minutes, I had another contraction, by 1:45 pm, I was in PAIN! Crying PAIN! I called the nurse and she came running, she checked to see what I was dilated at, I was a 6! She called and phoned everyone. She had me call Erich to have him get to the hospital as quick as he could. Since my dad was at our place helping with Natalie, I called him to wake Erich up. I told him that I was in labor and that he needed to get Erich up quick! By the time they had me wheeled into the delivery room, I was dilated at a 10! The Resident doctor who was so wonderful! The doctor on call wasn't there yet, but was on his way. I had 4 big contractions, I pushed 3 times for each one and by the last contraction, Erich and the doctor arrived. They broke my water just a few minutes before Erich arrived and within minutes Eva was born. She came out crying, she was so tiny and beautiful! The NICU nurses took her, cleaned her all up, and brought her over to see us, I was able to hold her for a few minutes. After it was all over, Dr. Lu mentioned that from the time I left my room to delivering Eva was 53 minutes and I only had motrin. He thought that was great! After giving birth, I felt great! Seriously, I was tired but I felt wonderful! I was blessed with such a beautiful Easter baby. I guess there was a reason why we nicknamed her Jellybean! We went back to my room, made several phone calls to our family and friends. My parents brought Natalie to see us and her new little sister. It was so nice to see my little ladybug! I missed her so much! My parents brought us a very yummy turkey dinner. What a wonderful day Easter was for our family! We didn't think that she would be born on Easter Sunday, we were both thinking sometime later this week, but I guess little Eva had other plans. I am so relieved that she is here and is doing so well! What a wonderful little Easter Miracle! Eva was born at 27 weeks and 1 day, just 3 days longer than when Natalie was, she is currently on CPAP and on 28% oxygen. She is doing really well. We are so grateful for all the kind thoughts and prayers that have been said for our family.
