Coughing and Wheezing....

Natalie has had a cough for about a week now. On Thursday, I noticed that her cough was getting worse and she was wheezing. I called the pediatrician's office and spoke with a nurse. She wasn't running a fever, sleeping okay but not the best due to coughing so much, she was still eating, that morning she threw up her formula because she was coughing so much. I made an appointment to see her doctor on Friday morning. We went to the pediatrician's on Friday morning, her doctor had me do a breathing treatment on her with Albuterol Sulfate. She cried the entire time I was doing the treatment. After I was finished, she fell asleep right there! After the treatment, the doctor came and listened to her, she wasn't wheezing anymore. She mentioned that we would do the breathing treatments for a while, because of her Chronic Lung Disease from her lungs not being developed when she was born, she mentioned that she may only need the treatments for a littl while but wasn't sure if she would need them long term. So they had me check out a machine and all the equipment that she would need. She wanted me to do the treatments every 4 hours. On the way home, we stopped by the pharmacy and picked up her prescription, then we headed up. Natalie fell asleep on the way home. Later that day, I did the treatment again, Natalie didn't cry as much as she did earlier. I sang songs to her while I was holding the mask up to her face. She would smile at me and at times she would help me hold the mask. It was really cute! She slept so much better that night.
