Yesterday was the big day....Since Natalie's surgery was scheduled at 8:30am. Her last feeding had be done by 2:30am. So I woke up at 1:30am to wake and feed her! She was so sleepy!! I fed her an 8ozs bottle, she drank all but about 1 ozs of it. I was thinking that she would fall back to sleep but she didn't, she was babbling and babbling, smiling, giggling. I told her a couple of times that it was night, night time...she would just smile a me! It was really cute but I wanted her to go back to sleep. So I didn't want to wake Erich, so we went out to the living room, I rocked her, tried putting the binkie in her mouth, I went to her room and rocked her. Nothing seemed to work!! So after about 2 hours of this, I was exhausted and really ready for some sleep before we had to get up and get ready! So I put Natalie in her bouncy chair thingy....I'm not sure what its called. I covered her up, put the binkie in her mouth, bounced it a couple of times and turned on her seahorse so that it could light up and play soft music and she was asleep within 10 minutes!! I even fell asleep on the floor next to her because I was so tired. About 1 1/2 hours later, it was time for us to get up. We got up and showered and got ready. I even had time to cooked us a nice breakfast french toast and bacon!! YUMMY! Erich packed up the car, and right before we left I carried Natalie out to the car....she stayed asleep the entire ride to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital a little before 7am. We got Natalie all checked in, she did pretty good with the being tired and hungry part up until 8am. She cried a few times. They brought out several new toys that played music and lit up...she really loved that. When all the paperwork was done, the doctor came into see her before the surgery, the nurses had us follow them and then we had to hand Natalie over to them. That wasn't so hard, she didn't cry which made it easier. Then we headed to the waiting room. My family showed up a few minutes later. We were told that the surgery would take an 1 from the time they get started. Waiting was so bad....we had a good time talking and I worked on Natalie's journal a little bit. At 10:20am we got the call that she was in recovery and we met with the doctoor in a another room to discuss how the surgery went. He told us that it went pretty well. She did good. We were both so relieved. He told us that she has three incisions one on the top right side of head, one in the back and then another one by her abdomen. He said that she would take about 30-40minutes to wake up and then we could see her. Finally, around 11:30 we were told that we could go and see our little lady. A nurse came down and got us, she took us to the reunion hallway, 2 nurses brought Natalie out in a baby bed. We were both surprised to see her awake, we went up to the crib and said Hi, she gave a small smile. They took us to her room. We were both surprised to see how awake and mobile she was. She was even holding a toy in her hand! The doctor had told us that he wanted her to lay flat for 24 hours. Daddy and I both held her little fingers, she fell asleep pretty quick. Erich went to the waiting room to start bringing family up, Grandpa Al came up to see her. He stayed for a little while. I went down to get my family, First my mom and sister came in to see Natalie. She woke up a few times but for the most part she slept. Then my dad came in, Natalie got a little restless, the nurses had told us that we could feed whenever we felt that it was a good time. First we gave her some glucose water, she drank that down pretty quick, then she drank a 4 ozs bottle, it took her a while but she got it down, she eneded up drinking 3 6 ozs bottles last night! Erich left to get some Aruthur Bryant's for lunch, my family left. So it was just lady bug and me. Natalie babbled a few times too! It was so cute! Erich came back with some yummy food! He was so tired that he was asleep in no time. My brother Caleb and my Neice Maranda came to visit, they came for a few hours. Natalie started getting restless around 4pm. The nurses were able to give her some pain medication, which helped alot. She slept for the next couple of hours. It is so hard to not just pick her up when she is cryng, I just want to cuddle with her...oh how I can't wait to hold her! After her nap she woke up and was played with some of her toys, I even got to hold her a little....she had to lay flat but they put her on a pillow on my lap. She did really well. Around 7:30pm, she cried and kept kicking her legs. They were able to put her back in her bed, I made her a fresh bottle and they gave her some pain medication and she was asleep. Erich, Uncle Caleb and Maranda left. I was so tired that I went to sleep around 9pm. Natalie only woke up a midnight, I gave her, her the binkie and she went back to sleep. Then at 3:30am. The nurses came in to check on her, they were trying to move her head to the left instead of the right. The right side was where the shunt is and it was getting quite swollen. Natalie really didn't like her head to be turned but once I gave her the bottle, she was quit crying and started to fall back to sleep. She has been in and out of sleep for the past couple of hours. Throughout they day today, they are going to move her bed up so that by this evening, we will be able to hold her! I can't wait! As the day goes on, I will update! Thanks again for all the prayers and kind thoughts for our little ladybug!
